Creo has many different software package solutions and features. Creo Illustrate is a good example. PTC began developing Creo in 2009, and announced it using the code name Project Lightning at PlanetPTC Live, in Las Vegas, in June 2010. In October 2010, PTC unveiled the product name for Project Lightning to be Creo. PTC Academic offerings prepare students to design, manufacture, operate, and service things for an increasingly smart, connected world. With access to on-demand flexible learning and emerging technologies available through PTC Academic, students can develop the skills they need to stay competitive in the new digital landscape.

4 years agoThis seems far too good to be true, so I'm guessing there are some pretty serious things missing.
My university uses Pro/E Wildfire 4.0 (We should have Creo, but our IT department is taking absolutely ages to get it on the network, so we were taught Wildfire 4.0), and I really want to get into it more and get ahead by modelling my own things and really getting comfortable with the software before my 2nd year. My issue is that I really really dislike using my university's virtual network; even using Microsoft Word over it is slow as hell. I've got quite a powerful PC (i7 3770k, 16GB RAM and a GTX 660) so I want to use the software on my own PC, but my university doesn't have a licence for that. I saw that offer online and thought it was far far too good to be true, so does anyone know what the drawbacks are of using the free version?

CAD / CAM / CAE system of the American company PTC (Parametric Technology Corporation) is a top-level CAD system and covers all areas of design, technological preparation of production and product manufacturing. The wide range of possibilities of the 3D modeling machine, the high quality of the result obtained and its stability to subsequent changes made the Creo system one of the leaders in CAD / CAM / CAE systems, and the availability of direct access to the product life cycle support system Windchill PDMLink puts Creo in the PLM category .
